Team BoldWater Hits Bottom
by Derek Redwine

Team BoldWater got the chance this past saturday to do some bottom fishing out of port canaveral. it's been awhile since the fab four - troy, derek, cory and jen have gotten to go fishing together so the anticipation level was high.

aboard the 35' cabo - plane simple
good friends jim jenson, lou and leanne accompanied us.
morning start was nice and calm as we made our way north.

as we crossed the 70 foot mark large pods of pogies were balled up on the surface. as we neared a whale shark comes up through the middle. incredible sight! a couple jigs get tossed into the school and 3 cobia come running up quickly. thereafter the water is boiling with blue fish which foils our attempts at luring the brown ones into a bite. soon jigs are bitten off and a few pesky blues are landed. oh well - we continue on to our bottom destination.

45 minutes latter we are circling a small rock in 165ft. all signs on the recorder show we may have a good bite.

5 minutes later jenny confirms that someone's home.

drift is slight to the south - very light morning breeze as i pull the throttles back for our second drop.

live pinfish are dropped to the bottom and are answered back with cory catching a small red grouper and troy and jim bringing up a nice pair of gags.

the sun and the fishing heats up.

a few more small grouper get released and cory adds some color to the box.

troy retalialates with a nice scamp.

as i ease us back on the mark it really starts to light up. jim takes advantage of the opportunity and stokes another grey.

the sun and fishing gets a little hotter and the summer attire is broken out.

troy decides he's not having much fun.

as the bite slows we make our way to 27 - i add a couple chickens to the catch and jim answers back with a fat scamp.

the tide picks up on 27 and the wind starts to make for a less then perfect drift. despite this jen, cory and jim add a few more fish to the ice condo.

leann catches a small cobia and we call it a day.
we toast a few cocktails on the way in to a relaxing day on the ocean.
back at the dock the work begins. we do the braggin board.

snap some xtra pics of the girls.

fillet the fish and the boat gets a thorough wash down.

as i sit here at my desk and ponder our day - today doesn't seem too bad for a monday.
